More About Replacement Coils

What Are Vape Coils?

The vape coil is the heart of your vape device. It’s a small wire wrapped into a coil shape, surrounded by cotton (or another wicking material). When you press the fire button, the coil heats up the e-liquid absorbed in the cotton, turning it into vapour. No coil, no vapour!

Fixed vs Replaceable Coils

  • Fixed Coils: Found in disposable pods or some beginner-friendly and newer devices, these coils come pre-installed, and once they’re burnt out, you replace the entire pod.
  • Replaceable Coils: Many vape kits use replaceable coils, where you swap out just the coil itself, keeping your pod or tank for future refills.

How to Replace a Vape Coil

Replacing a vape coil is super easy and quick. Here’s how:

  1. Prime Your Coil: Before installing, add a few drops of e-liquid directly to the coil’s cotton to saturate it.
  2. Attach the Coil: Screw or push the coil into the pod or tank, depending on your device.
  3. Fill the Tank: After installing the coil, fill your pod or tank with your favourite e-liquid.
  4. Wait: Place pod into your vape kit. Give it around five minutes before vaping to let the coil fully absorb the e-liquid and avoid dry hits.

What Coil is Right for My Tank/Pod?

Your choice of coil depends on your vaping style and the type of device you have.

  • High Resistance (1.0 ohms or higher): Ideal for MTL (Mouth to Lung) vaping, offering a stronger throat hit and mimicking the sensation of smoking.
  • Low Resistance (below 1.0 ohms): Best for DTL vapers who want massive vapour clouds and a smoother inhale. This is also known as sub-ohm vaping.

When to Replace Your Coils?

If the flavour is off, the vapour production has dropped, or you notice a burnt taste - these are all signs it’s time to replace your coil. On average, coils last anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks, depending on how often you vape and the type of e-liquid you use.

How to Make Your Vape Coil Last Longer

Want to extend your coil’s lifespan? Here are a few tips:

  • Prime Your Coil: Always make sure to prime the coil before using it to avoid burning it out quickly.
  • Stay in the Recommended Wattage Range: Using a higher wattage than recommended can burn out your coil faster.
  • Don’t Chain Vape: Give your coil a break between hits to allow the cotton to absorb more e-liquid and avoid dry hits.
